Kahran Ramsus, his own self. I can't decide if he looks worried, sad, upset, or pissed.
Here's a poser for you. I don't like quasi-realistic or realistic portraits
of anime-styled
characters. I never have. I've always preferred them in their sparkling
anime glory, to
coin a phrase. Gleam!
So why did I do a pseudo-realistic pic?
The short answer is: I really have no idea. Mostly, just to see if I could, I guess.
The long answer has to do with the picture of Black Velvet Severus,
down in the original section, a
Painter experiment that originally went horribly awry and eventually
became something much,
much stranger. I liked it, though, in all its fake 3D lushness, so
I decided to do another
picture right away to see if I could re-create that happy serendipity.
Guess I did.
That being said, though, I think I like the picture of Severus better.
It's less realistic.
Plus Severus is my own personal original character baby, which always
helps.
Um. I don't really have many quibbles with this picture. The worst thing
about it is that it's
such a boring pose... or lack of a pose... I really like those lips.
Mmmm, lush lips. The first
time I tried to type that phrase, I typed 'lust lips', which is just
about right, you know?
The hair was a lot easier than I thought it would be, too. His hair
is FUNKY to draw, but after
a couple of sweeps with the stylus, I had it more or less like I wanted
it. And then it was mostly
a question of laying down layer after layer after LAYER of oil paints
on the black 'paper'...
I don't know that it actually looks that much like Ramsus, but it's
close. I hope.
Here's the
large version... fear my lousy brushwork, but OOOOOGLE those lips!
A lot of
detail got lost in the small version, unfortunately, so I really hope
you take the time to look
at the big one.
I worship Painter Classic. Maybe I ought to get my hands on the real deal eventually.
