The unnamed male lead from Legend of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 4), with the flying mailbox that is 'Home'.
This is another one of -those- pictures. I really liked the sketch,
I kept playing with it and playing with it,
then just threw up my hands at the thought of INKING the damn thing.
So I just colored the sketch and
said hell with it. Admittedly, since Legend of Mana was done in such
a baroque, colorful, fluffy style,
it actually looks kind of appropriate.
He's not really supposed to be holding the mailbox... it's supposed
to be hovering, and he's reaching for it
and studying it. Unfortunately, the placement of the thumb is hidden
by the mailbox, so that's not really
apparent at first glance. Also, his hair should probably be even wider
and fluffier. He really is a FLUFFY
little thing. ^_^
I do like his hands (gasp) and his face. And the big green gem on his
hat-thing. ^^
All hail the almighty Wacom tablet. Yes, I finally have one, and I LOVE
it. It makes coloring a lot more
intuitive and a lot FASTER, particularly if you go for messy-style
CG like I did here. Plus, for once in
my life, I colored his hair decently. That wouldn't have been possible
without the tablet. On the down
side, after you use a tablet for about three hours, your wrist and
hand hurt like hell.
Here's the pencil sketch I was working from... nothing really changed.
