Noel Chandler, resident Nedian biologist, showing the ardent love of science that so marks his character. Or, you know, not.
Noel is... Noel is a strange character. A lot of people really, really
hate him (and for the longest time, so did I) because he's not all that
useful and he has the Worst Voice Acting Ever. But he kind of grew
on me, really; the big turnaround happened when I was looking at the
character designs for Star Ocean: Blue Sphere and spotted Noel-the-giant-hippie
and said to myself, "... of course! That explains
everything! Noel is a pothead!"
And after that, well, I loved the little guy. He's so very cute and
silly.
I wasn't really expecting this sketch to go anywhere. But about halfway
through I accidentally drew a good hand (the one on the book) and
then I knew I was doomed, because if I ever draw an even halfway decent
hand I have to finish that picture. And then I went right ahead and
killed myself with cute. Noel's not a sexy guy, particularly, but for
some reason I feel like this picture just says it all.
So I inked it, and I only really messed up one line, on the outline
of his mouth; nothing else to be said about that. It's a perfectly normal
inking
job for me. I'll never be a good inker. Never, ever, ever.
The CG turned out pretty well. I did pretty good hair, for once, and
that's enough to make me happy; the rest is... all right. It's nothing
special
but it's perfectly serviceable. I hate drapery, so I just faked it.
I tried and tried and tried to do a decent background, and finally gave
up in disgust.
I can't draw a floor. How pitiful is that? So, anyway, instead of a
floor you get a bunch of biological definitions that seemed to fit either
Noel or
the situation. One of them is very, very, very cruel. Heh heh heh.
And I want that bunny plushie.
