Ficbit Challenge 4

Twenty-Eight
- Hikaru no Go, Mitani (with references to Star Ocean: The Second Story, and Leon)

Mitani wouldn't have thought of it if he hadn't ditched classes yesterday and wound up playing his game all day.

He'd stolen the game mostly because he could, plus the blue design on the cover was interesting and it was in the clearance section, meaning that it probably didn't have any kind of anti-theft sensors on it. The fact that he actually sort of enjoyed playing the game was extra, to his way of thinking. But he did like it, and he'd played a lot of it.

So when Kaga materialized behind him in his classroom and hooked his fingers through Mitani's belt in preparation for mayhem, Mitani simply grabbed the dictionary on the table in front of him and smashed it as hard as he could into Kaga's side.

Kaga made a deep whoofing sound of startlement and jerked his fingers free, and Mitani dropped the dictionary onto Kaga's foot with a loud thud and bolted. The roar of outrage from behind him was immediate and life-threatening, but Mitani had just enough of a headstart and just enough incentive to outrun Kaga.

He found it prudent to skip his classes for the rest of the week. On Monday, when he returned thin-lipped and scowling, Kaga threw him into a wall and scrubbed the top of Mitani's head with his knuckles until Mitani stomped on his foot again, and after that, they were even.
