Jonathan 'Johnny' Pilgrim (Texas)
Full name: Jonathan Howard Pilgrim
Biography: Just like the codename says, Johnny's a good ol' Texas boy from El Paso. A pug-ugly, lanky, rawboned man, Johnny gravitated toward law enforcement after a year or two at a community college, winding up in the local police force. He liked his job. He liked his job a lot. He was a little too good at it, as it turns out, catching criminals not only on the streets but high up in the ranks of his own department. While many men would have looked the other way (or demanded their share), Johnny, a fundamentally honest man, just naturally blew the whistle on the whole thing. There was a minor scandal. It made the papers. People were fired. And after that, Johnny didn't like his job so much any more. Finally, the local FBI liaison (with whom Johnny had worked in the past) suggested that maybe Johnny ought to think about working for them, instead. Johnny thought about it for a while, then took him up on it. Trivia: Despite being a good three years and change older than Simon, Johnny hasn't once had a bit of trouble taking orders from the younger man. Johnny doesn't like giving orders; for all that he's a tough and competent man, he's also surprisingly ego-less. Author's Note: Johnny is based fairly heavily on the legendary stories of the Texas Rangers, many of which I read when I was a kid. I've always had a soft spot for the 'classic' Texan archetype, so when the opportunity to write one came along, I jumped on it with both feet. |
