Biography: Simon is an all-American middle-class boy from the Midwest; his childhood, to the casual observer, was just about as normal as they come. In reality, however, his home life was somewhat turbulent. His father, a state trooper, was a solid and dependable man but also a man of thoroughly blue-collar values, and his son's obvious intelligence and his wife's indulgence of it made him feel both angry and threatened. Despite his father's overt (and sometimes physical) disapproval, Simon threw himself into his studies, made excellent grades all through school, and won a full scholarship to American University, thus putting himself on track for his current career.
Simon's kind of reticent about the rest of it, but it should be noted that he hasn't once been back home since his mother died, several years ago.

Trivia: Simon's choice to have two techs on his team is unusual; most teams have only one tech expert who handles both hardware and software questions. To compensate for the 'lack' of an extra bruiser, Simon requires that all members of his team, including the techs, put in five hours at the firing range every month. As an exchange, it's worked out quite well.
