Originally created as bookmarks, which I enclosed with the autographed copies of the books that I auctioned off on eBay. Only the auction winner gets those, though; the rest of you get a web-quality .png. These are all the things I love: Simon, Jeremy, word fuckery, exposed male skin, negative space, black and white. I could go off on a whole riff here about how the words in large print are what I consider the thematic statements of each character in each book in their own words, surrounded by a whole host of slightly less important statements in smaller type, in order to (hopefully) give us a nice cascading view of both characters' shift in attitude towards each other as it takes place over the course of all four books--but that would be incredibly wanky of me, so I think instead I'll settle on telling you that the negative space just looked a little too empty and I enjoy messing around with text effects. I suspect that the actual truth lies somewhere in between. Doesn't it always? |
